Miz Metro Adventures in LA LA Land part 3

What a weekend!! I flew out Friday morning, to be immediately greeted with a writing job for ABC, they needed a Kate Nash spinoff- which I happily sunk my teeth into- if there is one music style I can cover in my sleep it’s brit pop ( not to sound to cocky, but I’ve immerssed myslef in it over the years).  I got to do the accent and all- so much fun! Because that track went so well, I got to write another one in the vein of Erin McCarley, that one went great too-and it looks like I’ll be writing a 3rd one before I head back to NY.  It’s so funny you’d think the labels would just lower their price a bit so they could get their artist on television, but instead the TV companies out source, to pay writers to whip something up for a smaller licensing fee. I’m not complaining, I’m just happy to be writing and to get myself on air! But it is kindof ironic, there is something backwards that the labels don’t have better agreements worked out with the networks….but alas, I’m glad to be getting any employment right now, paper is thin in the music bizz right now, that’s fo sure!

So what I had thought was going to be a weekend full of Grammy parties, was me locked up in the studio all weekend! I unfortunately missed all the Sat events, was so looking fwd to seeing Janelle Monet perform- and Wayna who I’ll be sharing the bill with Feb 18th at SOB’s.  I did make it to one Grammy party at Opera to see Mickey Factz perform on Sunday night, that didn’t necessarily go as planned…I almost got into a fight with some dude who tried to grab the boob of one of the girls I was with- when we told him to leave us alone he seriously tried to step up in my face like he was going to hit me…being the New Yorker I am, I don’t know when to shut up. L.A is cool…but yuck I’m staying out of the clubs…I prefer private parties, the sunshine and the studio- as long as I’m writing music I’m set!

Here are a few photos from my trip thus far:

So funny, I got all my Grammy coverage via Twitter- there is a 3 hour time difference, so they actually got it live in NY- we had to wait for it in LA.

Here is a very pregnant M.I.A performing a snippet of Paper Planes into Swagger Like Us with the “Rap Pack”

One of my favorite clips from the Grammy’s M.I.A looks like a lady bug- godbless her, rocking so pregnant! That’s going to be some baby-due the day of the Grammy’s!!

Still not sure whats going on with the SXSW SOUL showcase…but I’m going to be down there rocking either way- and it’s going to be Triple Trouble! Eyeris, Yarah Bravo and Myself are teaming up to do as many shows as possible! If you have any space on your bill or know any venues still looking to book talent email me @ mizmetro@gmail.com or bookingyarah@gmail.com

Mark it in the Calendar! Feb 18th at SOB’s SOL Village! Can’t wait! Honored to be rocking along side Grammy Nominated Wayna!

She is so very talented!!!
