On Saturday during Grammy week – Wayna performed at this awesome Grammy brunch. Produced by KCRW’s Garth Trinidad and a benefit for Common’s charity Common Ground.

It was held at O Hotel which is a lovely space downtown LA.

Garth interviewed the artists very much a la Soul Train style! The place was packed full of photographers, trendsetters, music types, filmmakers, and media.

Macy Gray was on the decks holding down DJ duties for a brief time.

Performances were really excellent…..Heavy D kicked it off, then J*Davey followed by RES, Wayna and the all amazing Janelle Monae. The crowd went ballistic!

Wayna’s performance was stunning and her rendition of Minnie Rippington’s ‘ Lovin You’ had the crowd screaming. Especially as Kokayi was holding it down on the beat boxing. Everyone’s heads were bopping and faces smiling including Macy’s!

Food and Mimosa’s were served like water. Non-stop! The sparkly complimentary of Barefoot Wine.

I didn’t see Common there but we did meet a few up and coming actors and lots of musicians. Janelle and Wayna hit it off. Seems they’re both fans of each other’s work.

I hadn’t seen Garth in years so it was great to see him in his element and shining! Have to shout out Asya from Fusicology who hung for a while. That’s my homegirl!

Got to chat with Jack and Brook of J*Davey- hadn’t seen them since last March at SXSW. They’re back again so we’ll have to catch up in Austin.

We chilled at the brunch for about 3 hours! The vibe, the entertainment, the energy and the people was great- really really nice time! Big ups Garth’s ‘My Hang Suite’
