2010 is ours:Around the world we go!

fc-globeblogger5

worldmap2I’m going through my blogs to see what I want to post, but instead of past experiances nothing excites me more then just looking forward to my BIGGEST adventure yet. In January 2010 my fiance and I will sell most of our belongings and leave for a planned one year.

Around the world with intentions we will go to share, create & explore music and opportunity for others.

Brazil is the first stop. Sao Paolo, Rio, Salvador are definites… the rest will be figured out on the way. We’re bringing the bare bones basic essentials: underwear, macs, mics, cameras, and backpacks.  Who’s the hottest unknown up-and-coming star in Rio de janeiro?  We’ll let you know in January. What’s it like to organize an intimate show on the beaches of Salvador da Bahia? Umm not sure, but hopefully we’ll leave Brazil with some crazy stories for you! With our ears and eyes open, around the world we go to

expose people to technology and tools which may open up new worlds for them.  Shepards Junior is a small school in Arusha, Tanzania – we’re teaming up with Epic Change to teach the kids at Shepards how to make music and share music with computers.  Details on the syllabi are still being worked out, but we have a basic computer lab set up, which we will deck out with midi keyboards and production software – we’ll be making frequent field trips to the near by internet cafe to spend time connecting with people around the world via social networks, blogs, tweets, etc… and the final project will be to complete a collaboration with someone from a different continent. While learning and teaching, around the world we go to

the last stop of the year long trip: Cambodia. At this point we’ll probably be tired old people with wise eyes and long beards, but we’re not planning on slowing down. We  plan to live in Phnom Penh for a couple months close to Chanty and help with whatever/whoever needs help (with snorkling and reading on hammocks on the beach intersperesed, of course)… As always, our main focus will be sharing their stories through media-rich art via innovative avenues.  Bringing technology and the internet to improvished areas won’t be easy…but the challenges of making this happen are what make this trip so exciting! For real, how cool would it be to follow a Phnom Penh fisherman on Twitter?  And how cool would it be for him to learn about whatever he wants on free-ed.net, the world’s largest FREE online university? Or for a depressed improvished teenager who feels trapped by his lack of options to get inspired by a TED talk?  Whatever happens, whether we reach our goals or our goals change, we’ll document it all…because we love posting this stuff on blogs .

Ill be back with an adventure from my journals next Sunday!

Hey! Great to see your post!!

Just wanted to let you know, if you add this text to this post & add a sentence about why you chose Epic Change, you’ll help us win much-needed funds from Zemanta’s “Blogging for a Cause”. Just include this text at the bottom of your post, and clearly indicate that you’re supporting Epic Change. Text: “This blog post is part of Zemanta’s “Blogging For a Cause” campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.”

Also, not sure if you saw, but the kids are hard at work voting to help us win Ideablob – we’re in second place & could REALLY use your help spreading the word. Check out these photos from Tanzania at http://bit.ly/tzvotes, then vote at http://bit.ly/ideablob to help us win $10k toward the creation of a computer lab. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!

Once you see the photos, you’ll definitely want to spread the word. Thanks so much for your help – and look forward to collaborating!! Feel free to email stacey[at]epicchange[dot]org or call my cell at 415.630.0631 if you have any questions or ideas!!!

    Thanks,
    Stacey
