Just a heads up that The Swedish Music & Film Industry is repping hard this year at CMJ which kicks off Oct 20th…I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Swedish culture after having spent some time there. I’ve worked with a few artists in the urban world including Loop Troop, Chords, Dainja, Timbuktu, Stephen Simmonds, and most recently Kissey Asplund who I was managing for a quick minute and also did my Thursdays blog for a while!

So– with that said- always been supportive and love seeing them in full force making inroads in the U.S and elsewhere plus…I’d love to go back someday soon…

So the fact Sweden comes to NY for CMJ is very exciting…They’ve invited me to speak as well… A fabulous Women In Music panel…Thursday, Oct 22nd-1PM…

On October 22-23, an extensive seminar program featuring Swedish-American panels will examine recent trends and the current state of the music business in Sweden and the United States.

One special panel will take a close look at the phenomenon of televised competitions such as American Idol. American contestants Kimberley Locke and Diana DeGarmo as well as Daniel Lindström, winner of Idol in Sweden, will compare personal experiences and discuss the life-changing impact of the television shows. Another panel will focus on the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest and will feature Swedish producer Christer Björkman and singer Anna Sahlene, who has previously competed in the contest.

In another panel, three Swedish and three American successful female music professionals will discuss the role of women in the music industry. How are women treated differently from men? Has the influence of women changed in recent years?

A total of 33 speakers and panelists
- including artists, producers, record company executives and songwriters – will participate in the two-day program, moderated by Billboard Books Author Fred Bronson.

The seminar program is presented by the Consulate General of Sweden and Export Music Sweden in collaboration with the NYU Stern School of Business. The program marks the ninth year of Swedish music events organized by the Consulate General in connection with CMJ, yet the first time that the Swedish seminars are part of the official CMJ Music Marathon program. The seminars will take place at the NYU Kimmel Center at Washington Square. Journalists are welcome to attend any and all parts of the program. In conjunction with the seminar program and CMJ, a live Swedish music showcase featuring Francis, Jaw Lesson, Sofia Talvik, Moonbabies and Adam Tensta will be presented by Export Music Sweden (ExMS) at Norwood Club on West 14th Street on October 22. This year, for the first time, the performances will be webcast live on Sweden’s official music portal website www.sweden.se/music - with video clips accessible on the site after the conclusion of the festival. In addition to the ExMS showcase, Swedish acts The Amazing and Jenny Wilson are also scheduled to perform in New York during CMJ.

Sweden is also represented in the film portion of the CMJ program. The documentary film Bananas!*, directed by Fredrik Gertten, will be screened on October 21. Both Gertten and Nathan Larson, who composed the film score, will attend the screening.
