these young kids, they come to town full of piss and vinegar and think they are just going to huff everyone off their game. what they often get instead is a humiliating beatdown.
case in point. young noah is an excellent tenor player and has got a lot of attention for playing with skill beyond his years. unfortunately, that has inflated his ego to a such a degree that he actually thought he could take me down at the ping pong table. so last nite we met at brownstone billiards to settle things. the stakes, $5 a game. 10 games.
i’ll say all the games were close and one game he blew me out. but seasoned experience won out against brash juvenescence and at 6-4 i was satisfied. but young noah wanted more, so i spanked him two more games to bring the nite’s tally to
8 games, dred, 4 for young noah. better luck next time, boy-o.
in november noah will redeem himself doing something i know he excels at – playing the saxophone. the trio will have him as a guest in november so keep an eye out for that.
