ADDING SOME SPICE…;-)

hey all!

so, I hope everybody had an amazing week! we’re back this week and we’re talking to Tanisha Silas of Spicey Promotions, a marketing and business consulting company based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Starting off in 2001 as a Street Promotions Team promoting club venues and parties, the savvy navigation of both street and online promotions of Spicey Promotions soon became well known and respected in the nightlife community of the Bay Area for their effectiveness and abilities. Spicey Promotions was then given opportunities to promote not only nightlife events but also lifestyle events (ie: concerts, plays, festivals, albums, fashion); and Spicey Promotions not only accepted but embraced these new challenges. Spicey Promotions has now evolved into an expanding marketing and business consulting powerhouse that currently is working on artist development, music distribution, published monthly editorials with much more on deck.

I sent the Founder and Director of Operations, Tanisha Silas, some questions, and she took some time out to answer for us:

me: when did you decide to embrace technology to enhance your business?
Tanisha Silas:
It was back in 2001, when I decided to start Spicey Promotions . I wanted to have an online social network where I could inform party goers of the Hottest Events going down in the San Francisco Bay Area Nightlife Scene.

me: how do you budget your time between all the different social sites you are using for promotions?
Tanisha Silas:
I spend a large amount of my day and night online. Sometimes, I have found myself still working on the computer after 8 hrs has past. It can take me hours to download and review music for radio shows and djs, add updated flyers, and information to several websites. Also, I create htnl /web pages/bulletins and daily notifications about all the different entities I am involved with or promoting. In addition, I am very consistent with reaching out to either friends/fans/members on several social networking sites such myspace, facebook, twitter, going.com, or www.SpiceyPromotions.com. So, when I am online…it’s more like going in to a 9-5 job.

me: do you a have newest latest fave site to work and/or play around on?
Tanisha Silas:
My favorite site at the moment is Twitter…I feel it is a good networking tool that allows me to be more personal with friends, celebrities, or other individuals in the entertainment industry. So, I work and have fun on twitter. I love the debates about music, and current events going on in the world and the different opinions from the random people I am connected with…

me: do you feel that there is one site in particular that has increased your productivity?
Tanisha Silas:
Myspace was the best social networking site created over the past ten years in my opinion. Myspace created an opportunity for me to reach out to large masses of people on a global level. In addition, it gave me an opportunity to create a large fan base for my nightlife events and emerging artists. Myspace was the first effective website in my opinion that gave me an opportunity to promote events, music, fashion, movies and more.

me: have you found that women use technology different than men?
Tanisha Silas:
No not really… I think it’s all based on the individual. I have been fortunate to work with a guy named “DrPostalot” who I find has just as much determination and dedication to the online frenzy as me if not more. Lol

me: how much time do you spend online on average?
Tanisha Silas:
Ohh my… I’m not sure if I should admit the truth. However, I will say that I dedicate at least 4-6 hours a day online.

I must spend about that much myself, actually..and I ask you, good reader, how much time do you spend online? on average? lemme know…

and BIG UPS to Spicey Promotions making strides and building and using technology as a tool on the path. and big shouts to DrPostAlot! because that’s the homie!

ok, so to close out, we’re not even gonna talk about google buzz. I will go on record as saying I’m not a fan. that may change, you never do know but as of right now? yeah, not so much. because I am a google fan, I’m open to hearing the pros..so please, if you have a positive experience with google buzz, leave a comment and let us know before I disable it FOREVER (bwaaah…evil laugh)! just kidding, it’s late, too much caffeine..smh.

so thanks for checking back this week! I’ll be back next week
