See the Israeli Juice firsthand!…at CMJ! http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/10/20/see-the-israeli-juice-firsthand-at-cmj/ http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/10/20/see-the-israeli-juice-firsthand-at-cmj/#comments Wed, 20 Oct 2010 16:14:27 +0000 thebloomeffect http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/?p=7178

Dear Juicers,

I don’t like to think of myself as a jealous person, but the fact that so many talented Israeli musicians right now are showing their stuff in NYC for CMJ right now makes me a bit green with envy. We have everyone from Onili (yes, I know…a personal favorite) to Izabo, Tamar Eisenman, DJ Mesh, Sagol 59 and more.

check out this event with all the artists, Israel Unlimited hosted by the Israeli Consulate of NYC TODAY! Invite HERE!

Also, below is the schedule for all of the Onili CMJ events that are happening so you know you want to save these dates, New Yorkers!

Now I know I mentioned to you last week briefly about King Adz’s new book, Street Knowledge. A book that includes many of Tel Aviv’s finest and really puts our city in the coolest urban light I’ve seen to date!

Photobucket

Well last Sunday, I went to the book launch here in Tel Aviv to get myself a copy and was completely blown away by how fabulous this book actually is. Graphics are incredible and let me tell you, if you haven’t fallen in love with Tel Aviv from my Juice posts, you will after this book.

check out this Broken Fingaz (Haifa) inspired promo for the book below!

Click HERE to buy yourself a copy. Seriously, its amazing.

Terry Poison has just finished shooting their newest video for the song “Upright”. I don’t have word yet one when its supposed to be released, but production photos are awesome! Check them out below:

The Frequency Below http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/10/13/the-frequency-below/ http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/10/13/the-frequency-below/#comments Wed, 13 Oct 2010 10:15:53 +0000 thebloomeffect http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/?p=7134

Juicers sorry I know its been awhile!  Let’s just call it a summer vacation.  But fall means we are back to business.  I’d like to tell you I was on vacation altogether, but really I was working on many different projects here in this great white city.

Our DJ’s are making the news all over the place.  DJ Sabbo has  been putting out dope tracks left and write and was noticed by FADER for his collaboration with grammy nominated artist, Ceci Bastida.

Now I’ve been to some good parties in my time. As a Philly original, I’ve gotten to go to many Diplo run parties (Mad Decent Block party being the best thing ever), warehouse parties with Emynd and Bo Bliz, and many more. Here in Tel Aviv, we have amazing DJs and there is always a party or something going on. But since the drinking age here is pretty much nonexistent, sometimes I feel like the oldhead at the party.

Not anymore! Monday nights here in Tel Aviv have been revived. Nadav Neeman (DJ Loyal) and Doni Kisluk (Ananas Beats) have put together something legendary at Tel Aviv’s newest hotspot, Radio E.P.G.B. called “The Frequency Below.” Although it really is too small to be considered a club, people can’t help but dance like there’s no tomorrow. The music is amazing and so is the crowd, especially since its +25 at this party.

Photobucket

I’m still DJing every Monday as well at Perla Bar for my line, Shaken, Not Stirred. So for you Tel Avivians, come out to Perla for a few beers and good music, then continue on with me to Radio for some all night dancing! No more Monday blues! For more info, click HERE.

And speaking of Tel Aviv hotness, we are being noticed EVERYWHERE! In an interview with King Adz of Street Knowledge, he talks about Tel Aviv being the “It” city!

Where do you think the most exciting, inspiring things are coming from at the moment? Israel is where it’s at right now. The scene is pretty raw and there are not that many people making money at the moment, which means it’s all done for the love and not the money…

Check out the rest of the interview HERE!

And in a couple of weeks comes CMJ in NYC! And the Israeli representation is huge! We have Sagol 59, Izabo, Onili and many more! I wish I could be there with them, but I’ll keep you posted on what’s going on here as well as updates from NYC.

See you next week!

Axum news and the MC Zulu Tel Aviv invasion! http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/08/19/axum-news-and-the-mc-zulu-tel-aviv-invasion/ http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/08/19/axum-news-and-the-mc-zulu-tel-aviv-invasion/#comments Thu, 19 Aug 2010 05:40:43 +0000 thebloomeffect http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/?p=6981

Lyrical Alliance http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/08/12/lyrical-alliance/ http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/2010/08/12/lyrical-alliance/#comments Thu, 12 Aug 2010 04:51:32 +0000 thebloomeffect http://www.thebloomeffect.com/blog/?p=6950

Its the Juice of the week and I know its a little late, but as always, I have a good excuse. I’m DJing now on Mondays here in Tel Aviv. I love it here, but there’s nothing like throwing in a little Philly style to the Tel Aviv life. If you live here and want a crazy Monday night of dancing (on the bar), come to Florentin 8 every Monday for my Shaken, Not Stirred Party at Perla Bar!

Speaking of special shows…Sabbo and Axum have flown to St. Louis, Missouri for a special show tomorrow, August 12th!

Also, big ups to Tamer Nafar! If you don’t know him, you should. He’s an amazing Palestinian Israeli rapper who is part of the legendary DAM hip hop group. His mentor is Subliminal of Israeli hip hop fame and has even toured with Ori Shochat.

Photobucket

Tamer will be sharing the stage with Talib Kweli in October for the Lyrical Alliance in London. Lyrical Alliance is a ground-breaking, international urban music event that transcends language and cultural barriers to celebrate the common pillars of hip-hop all over the world: the beat and the word.

I also recently stumbled upon a video of Ravid Kahalani, an amazing Israeli singer who represents his Yemenite roots in his music. Check out his intro to Yemenite Blues below!

Click here to view the embedded video.

Also, if you haven’t gotten your remixes in for the Onili contest, DO SO NOW!!!!!!! Due date is August 15th! For more info, click HERE!

Parking is a hassle in every major city and Tel Aviv is no exception. Some street artists thought it would be fun to make fun of the situation by painting their own parking spot! Check out the video below. Its in Hebrew, but its pretty self explanatory. The words painted in Hebrew mean, “my parking spot”

Click here to view the embedded video.

That’s all for now. Next week get ready because I’m going to give you all the behind the scenes action with Zulu and Soulico as they prepare for their big 10 year anniversary party! August 19th…DO NOT MISS IT!
