Not to mention that I will be on one of Oveous’s upcoming single releases for the song we wrote together called “MAYBE”, and you’ll be seeing that all over the place so you should start to become familiar! : )
If you don’t already know about Oveous here’s a quick breakdown:
Oveous is a recording artist who tricked everyone into believing he was only a poet. He grew up in the Bronx and Washington Heights exposed to the richness of jazz, soul, hip hop, and latin music. An honorary member of the world-famous Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Oveous shares his own brand of “rap & spokenword”. He became a National Poetry slam finalist three years in a row, is a multiple time winner at the Apollo Theater, has performed on the hit series HBO Def Poetry, and has recorded music with grammy award winner Louie Vega. Currently, you can download Oveous’ albums (“Future Intentions” & “The Iambic Moment”) at: oveous.bandcamp.com
This is a well done music video, love the Pulp Fiction theme:

Which lead to a very interesting conversation that had a deep impact on me, so I’m sharing it with you as food for thought. What does it mean to be focused in one’s life? To have a clear sense of direction and purpose? In New York City there is such high energy so many people trying to start projects and get their friends to help it’s easy to get caught up in a lot of hot air. We have to stand up and be focused on what we want to accomplish. It’s okay to say no. Be honest with your friends if they can’t take it maybe you shouldn’t be working with them. Life is short, do what you love and be focused. Hard learned Metro advice for city living.

I watched these two progress over the time I spent with them at SUNY Purchase, and they are two of the most musically dedicated people I know. Their project has an old school feel good hip hop vibe that so many of us crave. Mikey Fresh also produced Adrienne Mack-Davis’s debut album “Music In Me: The Process” and will be DJing the live mixtape showcase for HIP HOP HOWL in Tompkins Sq. Park Sunday September 12rh on the mainstage 2-3pm! It’s all in the family, check them out you won’t be sorry : )

Hello!!! Just landed in London!!! Berlin!!!! Is an AMAZING city. I loved my time there immensely!! While winding down from my European tour I met some incredible people, recorded two new DOPE dub-step-esq tracks, got to jam out and rock on stage w/the EODUB international family, play a lot of basketball, and bike my heart out! The EoDUB World Finals were insane. Hearing M.C’s rap in over 10 different languages in one show was a life changing experience. Hip Hop is alive and well, don’t be fooled. It’s a global force that is thriving and growing by the minute. It was truly an honor to jam and spend time with the amazing M.C’s, DJ’s, beat boxers, break dancers and organizers of EODUB from around the WORLD! I edited this dope video that won’t friggin upload w/the unstable internet i have right now, so these photos will have to do in the meantime (and they aren’t too shabby-I’m a closet photographer : P Miz Metro Media) That video will drop asap at the mercy of the travel internet gods.
Here is a mini photo essay of my stay in Berlin!
The day after the EODUB World Finals ( where the UK took the crown for the 3rd year in a row!) A diverse mix of M.C’s, Break Dancers, Musicians, Singers, Graf Artists & people came together to Jam- and it was a beautiful Sunday. I felt like I was in the movie “Wild Style”:

East Berlin Wall Gallery:

Street Art from the block I was staying on in Friedrichshain:

Hope you enjoyed the photos! Tried to give you a little taste of Berlin! GO visit! It feels like what I would imagine NYC felt like in the 1980′s (I was only a toddler so I can’t really remember) Oh and I celebrated my birthday in Berlin, and the night before my birthday I discovered after googling my album UNLIMITED for illegal downloads, just for shits and giggles- that I have over 50,000 illegal downloads of my album!!! WOW! I don’t even care that people didn’t buy it, as broke as I am right now- I’m thrilled that so many people have my music rotating in their ipods, playlists etc! To connect w/people is why i create, and the thought that people, way more people than I thought have the album is really an amazing feeling. It’s on over 30 different file sharing sites- and only 3 of them kept track of the downloads per quality torrent so from the math I added up to 50,00 the real number is probably at least double- which was a nice birthday present : ) Now…making steady money doing music….that’s the goal…in the meantime I’m going to hit the streets of NYC selling metrocard earrings and singing my little heart out w/my looping pedal. Speaking of which, here is a little looping 101 lesson, a new idea I sketched out from scratch while in Berlin last week-figured I would share for fun, a taste of my little experiments as I write on this looping pedal! When I get back to NYC I’ll be integrating my band w/the new material : )

Bonjour! Ca Va? In France right now LOVING Lyon! Such amazing people here, putting together a great team! Very excited! Naples was also INCREDIBLE last week! I have to be brief right now because I have to catch a train to Paris! Had a great session with Les Gourmets last night, it’s going to be a great new track! Doing a little something with ONILI in Paris tomorrow night! I stayed up all night trying to get this video up to show everyone what I’ve started to do with my looping pedal! Here is a video clip from my first show in France ever & my first time looping live at a club in front of an audience!

Naples was absolutely amazing! Big thank you to Celesta and all my new fans & friends! Shout out to CHEAP & Antonio for doing my crazy hair design with LCD lights! I have some great video clips from Italy as well- working on getting that edit together- in the mean time here are some photos to hold you over : )

Big thank you to CHEAP (like cherp of the bird) for the fly jewelry!

Off to Paris! Can’t miss the train!
more soon!
much love

Greetings!
I write to you from Naples Italy over looking the city on a small little farm on the top of a hill in the middle of the chaos that is Naples. It’s incredible here, I just ate a meal made completely from everything grown within 100 feet away from me. I landed in Naples yesterday, and left Madrid in the middle of a metro strike of course! Madrid was in a gridlock with the Metro not running! Getting to the airport was quite an adventure!
Ah Porto Portugal was absolutely amazing, the city has captured my heart and I will be back! I made some amazing friends there, who I can’t wait to come back and visit! Breyner85 is where I had my first show, which is an incredible place with quite a vision building community among artists as a serious music academy, recording & multi-media school as well as a professional venue, bar & cafe. If you find yourself in Porto you must go!www.breyner85.com Some photos from my first show in Porto by the wonderful Daniela Maia:

My mini photo essay on Barcelona:

These guys below were ready to run the second they saw cops, store on a rope.

Looks like tar, tastes amazing- squid ink makes it black!

Yes it’s a giant butt

And now the adventures begin in Naples! I have video footage from everywhere I’m editing and will hopefully have uploaded soon. While traveling the little things take longer, not that working with video is ever quick! So many different cultures, and languages, repeated culture shock- which I like, being in an utter state of aw. Loving Naples thus far, I have the most amazing host Celeste! check out her art work at:
Being in Europe has given me perspective on America and the way we do things in New York. It’s go go go go go, which is great- but there is more to life then being defined by your success, there’s also something called living-which we forget sometimes.
SAVE THE DATE! Saturday September 11th Joe’s Pub w/Erin Barra back in NYC! Not to be missed!
until next time!

much love
