I was so happy this morning when I found out one of my favorite artists who embodies everything soul and funky and cool– Raphael Saadiq

He’s returning to SOB’s after an overwhelmingly receptive audience and a SOLD OUT show this past Tuesday.

Saadiq shined- he was radiant - he was magnificent - so I heard.    I can’t tell you how happy I am because I so badly wanted to be at SOB’s on Tuesday but I was just too damn tired….So…..I get to go Monday– October 6th.   Can’t wait!

His latest project  ‘The Way I See It’ is being praised all around for being innovative, funky, pushing the envelope and being ultra creative.

I suggest you get your tickets now so that you’re not turned away on Monday at the door because that’s what happened Tuesday.

World Soul artist Heston tells his story…

filed under EVENTS, Music on October 3rd, 2008

Atlanta soul artist Heston debuts with an intoxicating masterful project called ‘Storyteller’. Originally from Dominica - a small island in the W.Indies– Heston incorporates a lot of Caribbean flavor and other worldly sounds in his music. He’s especially influenced by Reggae. There’s a gorgeous reggae song - a duet with Yahzarah called ‘Feel Like Dancing’.

Heston’s on the way to Detroit as you read this- performing at the Soultracks after party- All-Star Jam.

He’s up for ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Male Vocalist’.

He’s featured on Ebonyjet - an interview/podcast and on Uncensored Interview

Check out one of Heston’s featured tracks.

I love my computer ( yes I do,es’ I do’). You are the most nicest thing in the whole wide world. (Yes you are.) Please don’t start to act up now when I’m typing this.

I love you… but sometimes..sometimes…you are stubborn!..that’s the friendlest word I can find , my love. As a mother that lovlingly looks at her obnoctious, stupid , snotty kid. (You know  exactly the kind)

Sometimes I just feel as if  you are the one that is dictating and desiding in our releationship (you! you just moved something on the screen! g–d d–n it!!!) Will I ever be eqaul to you? No, I don’t think so. So why do I ever bother to complain. I don’t have the slightest :S. Anyone  hears me??….anyone….

Loves (Big hughs to you my computer love)

I Need a Bailout!

filed under Commentary, EVENTS, Music on September 30th, 2008

This comes in from Jazz pianist Dred Scott-

in an act of civil disobedience i have decided to stop paying my student loan.  the balance is about $17,000, the payment is
$180/month and that keeps me right at negative amortization, so at that rate i will never pay it off.  so i’m thinking 17 grand vs.
$700 billion and they can go fuck themselves.  i’m sure i’m no different than anyone else - rent, health care out of pocket (plus the hundreds of dollars i’ve needed to copay for this or that), credit card, cell phone, car insurance and upkeep (215,000 mi not long for this world), shrink and meds (my $250/mo premium gets me a copay of $80 on the lexapro i take) and i’m going to struggle to pay
back my student loan??  i don’t think so.  what do you think would happen if everyone stopped paying their student loans?
bailout.  the student loan industry is collapsing and we need a bailout right now!!  too lazy to go to a demonstration?  me too.
just stop paying your student loan and send a message to the government right from the comfort of your sofa.  what could
be easier?  you don’t have to do anything.
power to the people.

My Favorite Rapper Wears A Skirt…and more

filed under Miz Metro Mondayz on September 29th, 2008

My favorite rapper wears a skirt, and her name is Eternia. By far one of the fiercest live performers I have ever seen-this girl commands the stage, like she just bought it. I first saw her live when I invited her to come perform at a show called “Tracks” that Steve Paul was filming for Downtown T.V- she wowed the audience, and had Steve Paul begging for more! She just finished a world tour, and her slogan/genius T-Shirt is catching the world by storm: “My Favorite Rapper Wears A Skirt”

The autographed addition above

2 find out how to buy one, and listen to her music
Check Eternia out at : myspace.com/eternia

One of my other favorite rappers doesn’t wear a skirt, because he’s a mouse- not the Disney kind, that’s fo sure.

J-Zone’s new album “Live at the Liquor Store” starring Chief Chinchilla is an album made up of remixed old Malt Liquor Commercials- yes the entire album.

Check out part 1 of 4 of the promo video’s for the album
Please enable Javascript and Flash to view this Flash video.

Buy J-Zone’s new album directly from his myspace( http://www.myspace.com/jzoneoldmaid)

“Take A Sip” from the album is also available for free on the HIP HOP HOWL MIXTAPE!
Click here to download it free now!

Last but certainly not least- please come on out to a very special show this Wednesday @ R-Bar! I will be rocking with my 7 piece band, this is our last show before we record the remaining 6 songs live in the studio for my debut album that I’m releasing in January! It’s been quite a year so far btwn SXSW, having multiple songs licensed to MTV and performing on Fearless T.V earlier this summer, and winning the viewers pole! Being an independent artist is a lot of work, but well worth the effort. Big up to Trevor Gale @ SESAC -I couldn’t be any happier over there! Making moves, keep a look out- come this January I’m swamping NYC with my revamped Miz Metro Card Stickers to promote my ablum: “Miz Metro-Unlimited”

much love,
Mizzz Metro (click here to listen to some tunes)
